NETBALL TRAINING PROGRAM

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM
Off-season training begins in August and then continues two to three days a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and some Saturdays) until mid December. Off-season training consists of moderate to high intensity fitness training, explosive training, agility training, recovery training and netball skill fundamentals. During the off-season training, we host multiple club competitions to maintain the element of competitiveness and fun for the sport. Frequent physical fitness tests are conducted during the course of the program to identify the success rate of the program as well as the progress of our members. This phase of netball training is the most important as it's foundation for a stronger body and mind for the next phase of in competition training.

The next phase in the training is the pre-season. This phase begins at the end of January and ends when the season begins. Pre-season training is heavily focused on the skill development such as; passing, footwork, shooting, defending and learning positioning. Team development also plays a major part during the pre-season training phase in building team chemistry, creating team tactics and creating strategy.
We take time during this phase playing more netball, than in off-season and organize more practice games between our teams and friendly games with some of the other netball clubs in the league.
Competition training phase is done during the Barbados Netball Association League season which begins approximately in March and ends about June. This training phase consists of maintaining physical fitness achieved in the off-season phase, the continued development of skill from the pre-season phase and redefining tactics, strategy and game play mechanics. Recovery training is also an important part in this phase and helps to maintain maximum performance from each individual athlete through the league. Appropriate rest periods are taken during this time to avoid injuries and prevent potential injuries.
